Born in Hiroshima in 1938 and trained at Tama Art University, Miyake spent his life exploring how clothes can move smoothly with the body. From early work in Paris and New York to starting the Miyake Design Studio in Tokyo, he always pushed the limits of fabric technology and fashion ideas.
